A Look Inside The Classroom

During the Fast Track coaching course, our students are assessed as they practise their new coaching skills on each other. It is exciting to see the transformations our novice coaches can effect in  15 minute laser coaching sessions. Enjoy these real life success stories. Minor details have been changed for reasons of privacy.

As a mother of a large family, grandmother and businesswoman, I am constantly juggling my responsibilities and this necessitates regular, careful reassessment of my priorities. I was experiencing uncertainty in several life areas regarding my role and my capabilities.

During a brief coaching session with a fellow student at the JCA, I was able to sort out the many compartments in my mind and make order whilst recognising my limits.

This enabled me to continue my juggling act, this time with clarity, certainty and confidence.

I had a major decision to make with significant ramifications.  I spoke through my dilemma with my coach, and using the techniques we had learned that same lesson, she helped me choose the path to take.

I am a composer. It's not just what I do, it's who I am. Recent health issues have contributed to my feeling of being stuck. With a deadline looming, and several options before me, I couldn't seem to manage to create anything. I felt as though I had reached an impasse.

Acting as a reflective sounding board, my coach walked me through the issues at hand. I enjoyed the session as I was able to talk things through but didn't realise the effect until later that night.

Night being my most productive time, I sat and wrote two compositions, without a break. During the follow-up coaching session, when I told my fellow students about my breakthrough, I don't know who was more stunned at my rapid progress, me or my coach.

I was uncertain how to proceed in a sensitive, personal relationship. The questions my coach asked, helped me discover who I wanted to be and the role I wished to play in this particular relationship.

She achieved this through helping me establish my values and what mattered most to me.

I was really struggling in a professional relationship. Using specific techniques, my coach helped me realise that only I control my thoughts and my response to any given situation and that by changing these thoughts, I immediately change the dynamic of the relationship.

By making small shifts in my attitude I was pleasantly surprised to see an improvement in my relationship.

"You cannot always control what happens to you, but you can control what happens in you."
